Radio 4 ??

I have managed to avoid Radio 4 for a long time ... for fear of being branded "old" , yes it happens... But today , whilst the rain pelted down and the children were playing I switched the Dial... and yes, there it was .. "Woman's Hour " ... I cleaned the kitchen and listened ... and now I'm hooked !! just don't tell anyone eh !!! x

Nourishing..

Two very dear friends of ours are unwell at the moment.. One has had a stent put in and the other , his daughter , has just finished her degree and is totally unwell , infected throat and yuckiness.. So I invited them round this morning , for soup , an automatic response of mine to illness of any kind . Today's soup was Carrot lentil, and red pepper (with a pinch of chilli ) as we sat round the table I relaxed with my cuppa and enjoyed the banter .. It's so good to send people away with a stomach full of soup for the soul x

Someone bring back the energy please..

I am in the week after moon time and typically , have no energy , coupled with a run downy sore throat moany thing , so I tend to use this time as quiet crafting time , reading and generally mooching . There used to be a time when this time would frustrate me and it still does to a certain degree .. but I have found that going with the flow and listening to my body is the better option . I have tried in the past Iron tablets and supplements but they cause so much havoc with my tum that I had to give up ., but this is a journey I am on and I will find new ways to cope with this flat time x Happy Sunday to you all xx

Parcels of loveliness...

I love receiving parcels , don't you ? A little while ago I posted on the GP forum about my problems with my moon time and the lovely Jacqui from over at The Barefoot Crofter sent me a parcel of books and some Oat straw . I am looking forward to losing myself in these books , I really am a massive bookworm , a childhood obsession with books , I believe in a desperate way to escape the life I had has turned into an adult fascination , so I will relish the pages x

Oat Straw is rich in calcium and magnesium. It can be used for both physical and nervous fatigue and is helpful for depression. Oatstraw also contains B-complex vitamins, silicia, calcium, flavones, saponins, and Vitamin A.

Oatstraw has been found to be an excellent toner for the whole system. Oat Straw is useful for thyroid and estrogen deficiency, for MS, osteoporosis, appetite loss, anorexia, urinary concerns, colds and chills and to encourage sweating. It's secondary uses are boils, weak bones, bursitis, constipation, gallbladder, kidney problems, liver disorders, pancreatic concerns, rheumatism, and some skin conditions.

Ode to Cloth ..

Horrid , plastic ,nasty, hurty, rubby, chafing pieces of material that sit with me on a three weekly basis , causing a hole in my purse and a pile in my wastebin..Be gone !! never darken my door again.
Welcome , welcome , welcome , soft , velvety, clothy comfy, warm cloths of feminine loveliness.Sure, you're hard work ,sure you're a bit messy but what you lack in convenience you gain in the peace and relaxation of my life and the local landfill, Imse vimse , I adore you x

The Yoga Dvd...

The Yoga Dvd
says:Hey , remember me ?
I was bought in the Spring
of 2003.

I sit right up here,
where the eye cannot see,
next to Top Gun and Grease
and Spiderman 3.

It would be nice,
don't you see
If once , you and me
could go stretching together
What fun it would be.

But for now, I'll just see,
if that call comes for me
When your suitably free,
for this yoga dvd .

Reflections on a journal entry ..

I dug out my old journal this morning and found the entry entitled "I'm Nearly 30 " , sat down on the bed and read it with a certain smile at the corner of my mouth and a shake of the head at some of the things I wrote ! Moaning on about the state of my hair and the appearance of my skin, so self centered !
Certainly now , years on, I could write a whole new entry and moan about the appearance of more grey hair , wrinkly skin , the prices of food , of living of everything ! how music and fashion and the economy have taken a downwards turn into an abyss of dissaponting nothingness..but I won't because we all know that stuff. What I HAVE learnt in those 8 years is that despite all these moans there is always the potential for change , that you can be who you want to be , live how you want to live, wear what you want to wear , listen to as much Joni Mitchell as you like, sure it's hard work to be the person that you have always wanted to be . Childhood experiences and interactions can make you extremely vulnerable at times and a need to fit in with others so that you aren't left alone , but slowly , surely out of that old you you can emerge a newer , older , braver (yes I said it , braver ) wiser you , it can be done ... I know it can xx

Reiki and meeting new friends..

I have been lucky enough to meet a kindred spirit this week , we had only ever talked online before so it was quite a daunting experience for both of us , but what she brought to our house and our family enriched and fullfilled us , a calm and gentle soul with a deep understanding of the art of healing , we even tried some Reiki together , not easy with a demanding four year old desperate for himself to be in the limelight , she came and she went with promises to meet up again soon , I so hope we can xx

Anxiety sits at my door...

Anxiety sits at my door it has embraced my head for the last 30 years, choking my thoughts and restricting my movements.. It is time for it to leave , but how ? No chemicals for me , they are harsh on my sensitive soul , although I have tried.. and failed .. and tried and failed, numerous attempts have left me weak and struggling.. it has overstayed its welcome , I no longer need you as a friend but I am now open and ready for change . ..

Welcome ...

This is my sacred space , my place to come to reflect and share , a place just for me , to confide in you , my daily struggles and joys of being a woman and a mother, a sisterhood of healing and a companionship of friends . A natural journey through the highs and lows , tears and discoveries , to slowly accept that life is about living and mostly about facing the reality that being a woman and a mother isn't easy and it's ok to struggle , hope you can sit with me a while x
